4x National Champion! Justin Finkel ’25 defends his NCAA titles in the 500 free and 200 fly

Justin Finkel ’25 won the 200 butterfly in record fashion on the third night of competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Finkel, who successfully defended his national title in the event, also broke his own NCAA Division III record time in the final individual swim of his career. He touched the wall in 1:42.64, shattering the mark of 1:43.21 he set in last year’s winning effort.

It marked the second national title of the meet for Finkel, as well as the fourth of his illustrious career. He now owns the most individual national titles in school history, and his 12 All-America selections tie the men’s program record set by Sam Gill ’14.

The 400 medley relay team wins 8th place at the NCAA championship.
The 400 medley relay finished eighth at the NCAAs.

On the first day of competition, Finkel ’25 successfully defended his 2024 national title in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:22.43. He also finished third in the 100 butterfly, clocking in with a time of 46.56.

Earlier in the competition, the Camels broke the school record in the 400 medley relay during prelims to earn a spot in the final. In the championship race, Finkel, Matthew Morris ’26, Carrick Shea ’28 and Nicholas Holovacs ’28 finished eighth overall with a time of 3:16.38, earning All-America honors.

The Camels will compete in three events on Satruday, March 22, the final day of competion. Morning preliminaries begin at 10 a.m.
