Alyss Humphrey ’22 and Daniel Varela ’22 participated in a PossePlus Summit Town Hall to discuss the “State of the Union” at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas, on June 7. President Katherine Bergeron also attended the town hall.

The town hall featured 150 student delegates—75 Posse Scholars and 75 students from the general student bodies of Posse’s 50-plus partner colleges and universities. Emmy Award-winner Frank Sesno moderated the town hall, which examined students’ perspectives on pressing issues such as climate change, free speech, education, public safety and identity.

The Posse Foundation and the Aspen Institute collaborated on the town hall, which was streamed by NBCU Telemundo.

Since 2009, Connecticut College has welcomed a Posse of at least 10 students from Chicago each fall. This spring, the seventh cohort of Posse students graduated, bringing the number of Posse graduates from the College to nearly 70 students. Connecticut College will welcome a new group of Posse students from New York City in the fall of 2020.
