Five swimmers earn All-America honors at NCAA Championships

The Connecticut College women’s swim team broke four school records and turned in All America performances in two relays and one individual event, finishing 15th at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team, featuring Vaughn Ammon ’22, Kenzie Healy ’21, Maddie Ford ’21 and Olivia Haskell ’19, broke the school record they established at the 2019 NESCAC Championships twice in the final day of the competition. The team finished with a time of 3:26.26 in the preliminary round before improving it with a seventh-place mark of 3:25.83 in the finals to garner All-America honors.

Senior captains Haskell and Maeve Wilber ’19 also established school records in their respective individual events on the final day. Haskell eclipsed her own record in the 100 free, placing 10th with a time of 50.64 seconds. Wilber finished 17th in the 200 back in 2:03.18, surpassing the previous school record of 2:04.60.

On the third day, Haskell, Ford, Ammon and Andrea Higgins ’21 earned All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the 800-yard relay, setting a College record with a time of 7:26.75.

Haskell also turned in an All-America performance in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished eighth with a time of 23.55 seconds. Wilber earned All-America Honorable Mention accolades in the 100 back with a 10th place finish.

The team finished with 85 points, registering a top-16 finish at the NCAA Championships for the fourth consecutive season.
