Sophomore breaks two school records at NESCAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Jared Nussbaum ’21 broke two Connecticut College distance swimming records and earned All-NESCAC honors at the NESCAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 24.

Nussbaum placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:20.87, breaking the school record of 9:33.77 set in 2014. He placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with another school-record-breaking time of 15:48.86, and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 1,650-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.

Colin Merrill ’22 also earned All-NESCAC honors and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400 IM, finishing second with a time of 3:59.84.

The team finished seventh overall with 803.50 points, edging out Middlebury, Trinity, Hamilton and Wesleyan. Charlie Adl ’21 rounded out the NCAA provisional qualifiers with his performance in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Camels will learn March 4 which swimmers will be invited to the NCAA Championships March 20-23 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
